Online Learning 2012-13 Annual Report

In school year 2012–13, over 23,000 Washington students enrolled in 72,000 K-12 online courses. The number of students enrolled increased by 18 percent over 2011-12, and the number of course enrollments increased by 9 percent. In addition, more district and schools added online courses to their offerings.

2013 Open Educational Resources Report

Open Educational Resources (OER) are teaching and learning materials that reside in the public domain or that have been released under an open license. OSPI created a collection of openly licensed courseware, aligned with the Common Core State Standards, to provide districts with a broader selection of materials that are more up-to-date. This report outlines how the project built OER awareness in the districts, and the goals for the next two years.

School District Online Learning Policy and Procedures

RCW 28A.250.050 required school district boards of directors to adopt a policy and procedures regarding online courses and online learning programs by August 31, 2010. The statute also required OSPI to summarize the district policies and submit this report to the legislature.
